Anyway. Everyone and their dog in my family was born in April, or so it seems. We have birthdays and an anniversary for nine people within the first two weeks alone, and that's just immediate family! Brooklyn and Travis both have April birthdays, two days apart, and this year I realized that she was turning 3 and he was turning 33! It was a birthday year of 3s! So I thought what could be more fun than throwing a 3-themed birthday party??? Travis's birthday is the 8th, and Brooklyn's is the 10th, so I picked Saturday the 9th for the party. Sadly I grew overwhelmed with stuff before all my awesome intentions could come to fruition (and anyway Travis was understandably uncertain about how I would pull off a combination party for a 3-year-old girl and a 33-year-old man in a fun and appropriate manner), so I at last settled for a barbecue at the park. (P.S. It was not BBQ weather!)
Cupcakes: Brooklyn at one point informed me that she was having a "Belle" party. I thought this would work out well, a combined party for her and Travis with a "Beauty and the Beast" theme. HA! Well anyhow this was the only thing I could come up with - red roses on her cupcakes. Because, you know, there's a red rose in Beauty and the Beast. And there you have it. We all know my cake decorating skillz are legendary.
The Adys and the Jorgensens joined us for our little birthday outing, and then the kids had a movie night!
Of course we did celebrate their own individual days. That's why their birthdays are two days apart. I was very careful to have Brooklyn a good two days after Travis's birthday so they would feel like they had their own birthdays (since Travis has always had to share his. BTW, happy birthday, Tim!) but still they could, you know, share Disney-princess-themed birthday parties and such.
Travis spent Saturday morning with his BFF Carl, fencing.
That's right.
I said fencing.
[No one knows.]
But apparently they both had a fabulous time and kept raving about how they had no idea how much fun fencing was and how amazingly sore they both were. I think Travis went so far as to say it was the most sore he'd been in his life!
From fencing!

Brooklyn spent her birthday morning opening presents and eating waffles (or rather, not eating them). She professes to love waffles above all other foods, yet when I made them on her birthday, she just kind of forgot to eat them.
That night the Official Birthday Cake was not yet frosted, so we had her blow out candles on the "Belle" cupcakes. And here they are with the real cake (which was lemon and would not come out of the pan, so we left it in).
This is the part where I gush about how much I love my sweet three-year-old and my darling husband and talk about how wonderful they are, but they already know and that's journal material anyway, so suffice it to say that I do and they are.
Oh wait, how'd he get in here?
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Hungry much?
Okay I'll stop now.

3 sweet nothings:
Fun parties!!
I always wanted to learn fencing. Ryan and I used to 'fence' with wrapping paper tubes in SA and I always got creamed. I'll have to get Trav to teach me.
Troy is so adorably cute!!! Man I really just want to eat him up!! So sweet! I can't wait to meet him this summer!!!
Maybe fencing will be my next hobby I take up. I took Floral Design last semester, and I'm taking gymnastics now...
Also, sometimes I kind of forget you have a son. I started seeing pictures of a random boy, and then I remembered! Whoa! He's a stud.
I love seeing your fun pictures!
