We spent our Columbus Day at the lake at Black Hills regional park - one of Travis's great finds close by. We've been wanting to build a bonfire and roast marshmallows ALLLL summer! Looks like this is as close as it gets...
Kate helped Daddy gather wood for our little fire...
We roasted hot dogs over the fire Travis built in the little grill.
And, of course, MARSHMALLOWS!!! It doesn't get much better than this...
I was hungry.
Kate receives her first marshmallow...
Is this what I do with it?
The store we went to before was out of graham crackers. YES - NO GRAHAM CRACKERS! (We left ours at home, along with the marshmallows!) So we substituted chocolate cookies! YUMMM!!!
Then we went for a walk by the lake.
I LOVE this picture. ^
It could be a puzzle!

What a fun time! I love your improvised smores! Yum! And I love your family picture at the end. Did you stop a squirrel and ask him to take it for you? :)
Cute family! You are looking great Krista, and that baby carrier looks nifty. What a beautiful park. I am jealous you got a day off.
P.S. Love the new header for Halloween! Too funny!
How fun!! What a great place- and BEAUTIFUL pictures!! In my opinion, chocolate cookies are WAY better than using graham crackers AND chocolate bars! We're making smores at mutual on Thursday and that's what I told them to buy instead of graham crackers!!
Oh yeah, thank you to Melissa for the sling! It's a perfect fit. It was too hot to wear Laura's wrap (though I love that one too)!
Oh, that looks like so much fun! We miss you guys!!!
Looks like fun! You have a cute little family!
Oh, we used to go to Black Hills all the time! We took pictures of Emma throwing rocks into the lake (next to the dock) in front of the sign that reads "Do Not Throw Rocks Into the Lake." Great parents are we.
Brooklyn looks like she's having a ball in that 2nd to last picture.
