Brooklyn's Baptism (two months ago!)

I'm not sure how I managed to skim over this, but Brooklyn was baptized in May!

In our Mormon faith (actually called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - LDS for short!) children are not baptized until they reach the age of accountability - 8 years old - when they are old enough to make decisions for themselves (and therefore be accountable for their choices). Brooklyn turned 8 in April and decided she was ready to be baptized!

Travis's mom Michele was able to come, and she also spoke at the baptism on the topic of the Holy Ghost. She was here representing all four grandparents, since the other three couldn't attend.

The kids also got to see their cousins-in-law, who traveled all the way from Paola, KS, for the baptism! Maggie (shown here with Kate) was baptized the following week!
In case you haven't heard of cousins-in-law, the Gottfredsons' aunt married the Lundell kids' uncle. Got it? Good!
Someday when my brother David and his wife Rebecca have kids, they will be cousins to all of these kids (who are already close friends!)

We are so proud of Brooklyn and the sweet, strong, feisty, bubbly young lady she is! I know she will be a hard one to knock down and will stand her ground and defend her choices and ideas. We love you so much, Brookie bear!
