Because I cannot for the life of me recollect taking this picture today:
It's KATE and she is CLIMBING on BIG-KID playground equipment!!!! A very big deal, for her! (Normally she will only use the stairs.) And I didn't even realize what was going on!!! How did I actually catch a picture of this without it registering in my conscious thought? What did I do? Pull out my camera, find the kids and randomly snap a picture in their general direction? APPARENTLY!!! I was seriously having a lapse in coherent thought today. It seems like I've been in a haze for the past... YEAR OR TWO! Even today while I was talking to Shauna about Brooklyn taking two naps... I don't think I even finished the complete point of what I was saying. But I was talking about how she takes a morning nap for... one year. No wait... One month. No I mean... what is that one length of time? Awkward pause... Shauna: "An hour?" Yes that's the one! See? Brain tumor. To further illustrate this alarming new development in my fast-deteriorating mommy brain, here is what happened next.
Kate & Logan hit the slides while Brooklyn toddled off to sit on the bottom of the little-kid slide. (I don't know why. But she likes it.) I was trying to keep an eye on her because she kept sneaking over to the big slide and I was afraid the big kids would hit her coming down. Well I was chatting it up with Shauna by the swings (probably trying to make myself look a little more intelligent) when we looked up to see Kate and Logan standing at the tip top of the tallest slide. I quickly scanned for Brooklyn to make sure she wasn't in the way, but the playground was empty. Not a child or a Brooklyn in sight. A little worried, I took off towards the slide, sure she was sitting at the bottom just out of sight, and at the same time I looked back up to Kate and Logan to make sure they weren't coming down the slide. The sight at the top of the slide befuddled my little tumored brain even more.
There was Brooklyn, sitting with the big kids about 20 FEET IN THE AIR at the top of the slide! I didn't know whether to (a) sit and ponder how in the world she got up there, (b) take a picture, or (c) freak out. I sprinted to the top of the slide and asked the kids how she got up there! Kate explained that she climbed up, with Kate and Logan's help. She even elaborated that Brooklyn said, "Hi! Hi!" the whole way up. I still don't understand. Perhaps it will always be a mystery how Brooklyn got to the top of the Big Kid Slide. (Needless to say, I didn't snap a picture of her up there while I was on the ground. Just use your imagination... insert Brooklyn here.)
Whew! I'm off to recover from the weekend! (Yep it's kind of backwards for me... weekends are crazy and I spend the rest of the weekdays recovering from the weekends!) At least someone got to relax over the weekend... (Here's what I found when I came home from piano lessons Saturday morning:) Pretty cute, huh?
10 sweet nothings:
yes, very cute!
awww! that last picture is SO sweet! I LOVE that feeling! Its the MOST comfortable EVER!
As for the slide- you arent KIDDING ME! THAT PLAY GROUND IS SERIOUSLY FOR 10 YEAR OLDS! Its HUGE! Lexi likes to pretend to JUMP off the open part and give me a heart attack! CRAZY! I cant believe she tiny little brooklyn CLIMBED UP THAT! WHOA!
PS, I really AM almost done with your pictures!!!
OH and sorry, we totally added to the CRAZY weekend! Thanks for watching LEXI!!!!
I think it may all come down to being a noraml mom and lack of sleep. ;)
Oh! So it's called "Mommy Brain!" It's nice to have a name for it, and to know that I am not the only one suffering from this condition!
Brooklyn looks a little upset you came after her. "What are you doing, Krista? Do I look like I hurt myself?" Maybe she's tired of you patronizing her? Just a thought. Hehe
In the smoothie picture, Brooklyn and Cami have the same smile. Although, Brooklyn has a few more teeth.
Wow. Brooklyn is craaaaaaaaaazy! At least she had fun...and Kate was watching out for her..
Sounds like Brooklyn did not get the same fear of climbing playground equipment that her older sister had. Too funny! What I really wanted to say is I LOVE the hammock picture. That is so cute. Mike would be in heaven if Maddie would sleep snuggled up with him.
YOu gotta be kidding me!!!!! Now I'm DYING to know what really happened. I'm trying to picture Brooklyn climbing all the way up there by herself, or having her escorted by Kate and Logan! It's pretty funny when you tell the story, but also SUPER scary when you think about that playground. WOW!!! YOu got some brave little girls! Glad everyone made it home safe! :)
