Tonight Travis fed the French missionaries. Which is to say, I cooked a meal and then went off to teach piano lessons while he fed it to them. When I came home later this evening, I went into the kitchen to start cleaning up. I opened the dishwasher, and Travis and I reached inside simultaneously: I put in a dirty knife, and he took out a plate.
Me: "What are you doing?"
Travis: "These are clean!"
Me: "No they aren't!"

We look at each other.


Only then did I notice that there weren't as many plates stacked in the dishwasher as there had been later this afternoon.

Hopefully those missionaries don't read this! (Please don't tell them!)

In my defense, I had planned to run the dishwasher this afternoon before dinner, but I forgot. I really don't leave stacks of dirty dishes at home when we're feeding company. Usually.
