FLORIDA!!!

Okay I am DONE waiting around... here come pictures from our family reunion in Florida a LOOOOOOONG time ago! Heh heh... I will start with the sandcastles.

My cousin Morgan turned 8 during our trip, so for his birthday my uncle hired a professional sandcastle builder (who KNEW that was a profession?) to come and teach us to build sandcastles! He had a photo album of ridiculously incredible masterpieces. Ours is nothing like that... Actually it's more of a schmorgisborg of little amateur structures that probably made this guy feel embarrassed for us, but it was definitely one of a kind. (You should definitely view these pictures at full size to get the full effect.)

The SWEETEST sandcastle EVER:
So my brother Ryan & I worked on this end of it (the part in the center of the picture, by my uncle's foot, with a tunnel through the middle, which oh yeah, we dug with our own hands) This side was my side...
This was Ryan's side:
Also, for the record, Kate hates sand. Yeah we could've probably thought of this BEFORE planning a trip to the beach. After wailing through two hours of sandcastle-building, however, she finally warmed up to it and decided that sandcastles are awesome. Here she is building one of her own:(Mostly I like how she's holding her sand-covered palms precariously away from her clothes, which are sparkling clean. At the beach.)

5 sweet nothings:

Wow, okay, you guys are dedicated. I think if I'd been there I would have given up after maybe 15 minutes and gone to play in the waves. Then again, I'd probably be laid out flat on my back in the hospital having a baby if I'd gone.

Wow!! That is really cool! I agree with Erika though, I probably would have given up to play in the waves. :)

Only the waves were swimming with algae due to a recent storm. It was really kind of yucky for swimming. I swam once and later pulled probably 4 lbs. of seaweed out of my suit! EW! Definitely makes sandcastle building more appealing.

BTW- LOVE the sand castles. Maybe that should be Travis' side job. :)
