Temple Run

This past weekend, we participated in the annual "Temple Run" sponsored by our church. It's a 5K race that begins and ends, of course, at the temple. This year, though, we were up against 38 degrees of rain and wind and just plain inappropriate cold for the month of May.  I didn't really take pictures, so here's what I scavenged from our fabulous race photographer and Travis's phone. They are not so great. I am just posting for the sake of documentation.

(The kids had an early morning soccer game, so Travis took them while I ran the 5K, and they joined us later for the kids' races.)

I started the race with my two best running friends, but you will notice that we each finished alone! :) Turns out that Janet, unbeknownst to us, decided to sprint the entire 3.1 miles. I stayed with her up until a little past the halfway point and then I was maxed out. Still, the over-exertion led me to a personal best time of 26:32! Granted, I've only run one other 5K race, and I was 5 months pregnant and pushing both my daughters in a jogging stroller. So... improving on that wasn't a huge accomplishment.

Starting out, Janet and I are struggling with our tech devices. Nice.
(I am the hidden one in the large red jacket)

And I came in just behind our stake president, who was the founder of the race.

Travis got the girls' races on video. Kate ran the 400m dash, and Brooklyn ran the 100m dash.
They both did awesome, despite the cold, and had so much fun! What good sports, especially right after a grueling soccer game in the cold rain!
