We had a very simple, low-key Easter this year, and it was just the right pace. I've been wanting to make Easter dresses for my girls for a long time now, and since they'll soon be growing out of the wearing-matching-dresses stage, I decided to finally take on that project. I also made Troy a matching tie, which he destroyed. I don't have any pictures of it, since he spent the day wringing it out, as you can see in every shot. We are not too hung up on aesthetics here; this is what we looked like after church.
The dresses and tie are a kind of pale celery-colored satin that I stumbled upon. In all I spent under $10 total on both dresses and the tie! I used this pattern and spent many hours sewing and ironing and picking a few seams (but surprisingly few, considering it's me). I was so proud that I showed Travis my work when he came home. He studied the dress and finally asked, "So what is it supposed to look like? Scales?"
AAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!
Yes, I dressed my daughters as Easter lizards.
Or snakes.
Or mermaids.
Yes, mermaids at the very least.
Travis came home for the weekend, FINALLY, although he only stayed a day before heading to St. Louis.
(I'll write a separate post about where we went this weekend, later!)
We had to squeeze all our Easter-related festivities into one room. We had a big Easter dinner, dyed Easter eggs, and had a little Easter egg hunt.
2 sweet nothings:
We dye eggs on the counter too! I thought their dresses were super impressive! So amazing and talented! Love the family pictures too! So glad you got some face time with Travis!
The dresses are beautiful Krista!!! I wouldn't have thought mermaid myself. They look like little flowers! I am impressed.
