Last week we officially launched Christmas.
We began with the tree, which we painstakingly selected from a scant population of trees and plucked from the clenching grasp of the throngs of Christmas-tree shoppers that were pillaging the lot. (Just kidding. Apparently people don’t do “real” Christmas trees here, so we were pretty much the only ones there and we had our pick of trees! But I like my story better.)
Travis wrestled it down and lashed it to the roof of the car – no small task, I am sure.
Good thing we brought a little Christmas elf to help.
And a Cougar fan…
And at last, here we are with our conquest!
Next up, the bedazzling.
(I wish you could hear the Harry Connick, Jr. and Frank Sinatra we were blasting during all of this. It really makes the scene.)
Tonight we continued our Christmasifying with gingerbread! Now, normally we MAKE the gingerbread (and the annual gingerbread-MEN-decorating is still to come!) but we had received this kit as a gift, so I figured we could save ourselves a few steps (and a few hours/days) and knock out this baby in one night!
Needless to say, my impatience was NOT rewarded.
The roof slid off repeatedly and knocked down one wall and then another until all the pieces were sprawled out spread-eagle and I was mad. With a little perseverance, however (and an equal amount of frosting) we succeeded!
Oh and don't forget to look for Travis and his contribution!
The House:
I have to show you the back because of the chair.
Kate wanted a chair in the back of the house, so the gingerbread men would have something to sit on.
Well, okay then!
Enter the chair.

And there you have it.
[Would it ruin the moment if I chose to tell you those stockings are held up with masking tape?]

4 sweet nothings:
FUN!!! Everything looks so warm and cozy and happy and.... well, Christmasy! Nice job. Enjoy the holidays and relax! And good luck to Travis in finals week. I feel for ya! Love you all. Give those little elves a special hug from me.
Seriously Supermom, stop making me feel so horrible about being so lousy! I don't have the ambition to do gingerbread houses or men. Lazy me. And I sure don't look that skinny or fit and my hair sure isn't that pretty - it needs to be cut. BADLY!
Speaking of hair, Troy's hair sure lightened a lot. I thought he was going to be a dark brown haired kid like his mom. And wow did he get big!! I'm sure you'll say the same thing about Austin and Brandon though.
Lookin' good, Lundells! I LOVE Troy's face in the photo where he is standing on the counter leaning on the Kitchen Aid mixer - priceless :)
My friend: "That boy sure knows how to model that mixer."
