The other day an elderly gentleman at the store told me fervently that I "have the patience of Job!"
It was pretty much the best compliment on my parenting I've ever gotten (and frankly, perhaps an understatement. Just kidding! I don't want to be struck by lightning...)You can use your imagination to fill in the rest of the scenario, but it involved Kate screaming until she was purple in the face and even scaring an employee away. I think by now I've become so desensitized by all of her drama that it didn't faze me in the slightest. In fact, of all the folks at that store that day, I think I was bothered the least by the whole scene. I just made a bee-line for the door and even managed to smile and say cheerful "thank-yous" to the people who let me go in front of them. I don't think anything that any future children of mine can throw at me will have any effect on me whatsoever after raising Kate. Bring it on.
I was also thinking today that I don't think I've ever chronicled the story of how this zebra got its name.
One day I said something to Kate about her zebra and she said, "No, it's Wuzzah!"
"Wuzzah?" I repeated uncertainly.
"Noooo! Wuzzah!"
Still stumped. ".... Wuzzah?"
"NOOO!!!" She's giggling by now. "Like this:"
And her voice turns into a sugary, plaintive imitation:
"It's all my fault, Wuzzah."
Travis & I in unison: "OH! Rajah!"
"Wuzzah?" I repeated uncertainly.

For those of you who are familiar with Aladdin, Kate named her zebra after Jasmine's pet tiger. (She was quoting the movie to help us understand.)
In other news, Brooklyn has a new trick, and that is walking backwards. She goes around the house shouting, "Look at me!" and walking around backwards. Now for those of you who have seen how graceful and coordinated Brooklyn is while walking forward, I'm sure I've put a most humorous image into your heads in describing her new trick. It has caused no end of laughter for the remaining three of us looking on, always at Brooklyn's expense. Poor girl.
EVEN BIGGER NEWS:
This one is for my mom.
LOOK WHAT I FOUND at - you'll never guess where - SAFEWAY!
(Travis ripped into them before I could take a picture)
These are his favorite treats from Hong Kong. AMAZING right? I wasn't even shopping at the Asian market. I was just perusing the Asian food aisle at Safeway!
To be honest, Travis didn't even want me to blog about these. He was afraid if I did, my mom would stop sending them. At least now she can move to Hungary with a clear conscience that Travis will not be lacking his Hello Panda cookies forever.
And finally, looks like Phil was right yesterday...

I'm not going to lie, the first thing I thought of when Kate was explaining the zebra's name is the legendary Budweiser commercial: Wassup! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W16qzZ7J5YQ
I do believe I must request a video of Brooklyn walking backwards. It seems hilarious!
Yeah, and you believe the snow? Crazy! How exciting that you found your favorite treats from Hong Kong right here in MD. Who'd have guessed?
Hello Panda rocks!!
I miss you Krista.
Oh Brooklyn....I hope you don't have too many owies in her life. We might need to try these cookies.

I can just see Brooklyn walking backwards and it puts a smile on my face. You HAVE to get some video!
hello, you breezed by a VERY important detail... your parents are moving to HUNGARY???? I'm so jealous! You'll have to go visit them and get your hair cut by a man in a wife beater with scissors in one hand and a cigarette in the other hand, then let me know how it goes for YOU... I cried for days :o)
I TOTALLY know how you feel with Kate. I tell Matt quite often that Hunter has been SO hard that ANY other kid we have will seem easy compared to him.
I love the Aladdin story. That's smart of her to say a line from the movie to get you to figure out what the zebra's name was, and just as smart of you guys to figure out what movie she was quoting from.
Hope you guys keep warm with all of the snow you're getting!!
