Yes I'm aware we're halfway to Thanksgiving.
I've been spending the past two weeks recovering from the party! This party was 90% awesome intentions and 10%... actual party. I know, I know what they say about good intentions. At least the plans in my head are there and someday they may actually become part of some party in reality.
Anyway, we had a Halloween party which began with trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. Madi, Logan, and Bella joined us for trick-or-treating, and we hit a grand total of three houses before the rain drove us inside. Oh well, the kids had fun anyway! Good thing we hit up the ward's trunk-or-treat the night before for some more goodies!
Frankly I'm kind of Halloweened out and have been procrastinating putting up these pictures so long, I'm just going to go for the classic stack-of-pictures-with-captions routine. And there ya go.
Also Travis took the camera early in the night and then during the party when I kept asking him where it was, he "didn't know..." So I have ZERO pictures of the party! Thankfully Shauna provided me with a few to stick on my blog. And then I went ahead and stole some from Anie too. (Thank you guys!) PS you should check out the video Anie posted of the kids dancing to a little MJ after our costume contest parade, and this one from Shauna, which includes Travis showing off his hops. (Both are at the end of the post) Pretty hilarious!
Our Costumes:
We went as fairy princesses (the girls) and a frog prince (Travis)
I know you're gonna ask, so YES I did make our costumes and YES I know fairy princesses probably looked a little more "magical" or "regal" or "decent" or "had their sleeves on straight." This is why on Halloween, we use our imaginations.
Also, Travis made his OWN costume, entirely. I was pretty impressed! He gets pretty into costume-building and is really very creative! This picture is my favorite, because I think he looks most frog-like here:Kate & Brooklyn were so excited when Carter was able to make it! They couldn't get enough of him in his cute dragon costume... He's in there somewhere, under the mounds of poofy skirts that are mauling him.
Also, if you look closely you will notice that Brooklyn's "crown" is secured to her head with medical tape. Sorry, but she doesn't have enough hair for any kind of clips or pins, and it was the only thing I could think of. By the way, I do not recommend it.
Launching the trick-or-treaters:
Two princesses, a doctor, a mariachi trick-or-treater, and a bumble bee
It's not easy being green...
Then we came home for the REAL party!
Even Travis can't get enough of this little guy.
(We need a son. BUT... unrelated side note... for now we'll settle for a NEPHEW!!! Our first one ever, for either of us!)
Shauna even got a shot of the food
(or what was left of it by the time her camera made it to the table!)
Kate samples the treats (and LOOK there are veggies on her plate! On Halloween! SPOOKY...)

Thanks for a fun Halloween, everyone!

Your party looks like it was a blast!
How fun! Looks like you guys on the Rockville side had a great Halloween! I can't believe you made those costumes! You ROCK!
I love family themed costumes. So fun! I can get my younger ones to play along , but the big boys will have none of it :( Great costumes!
You always come up with the BEST family themed costumes! And you're lucky that your husband will go along with it! :) But you really do not give yourself enough credit- those dresses you made were AMAZING!!!! I'd totally be bragging if I could make anything half as cute. i was VERY impressed! Thanks for letting us join you guys Halloween night! The Lundell's always know how to party! I gotta say that my favorite part of the night was when I killed off BOTH detectives during our rousing game of Mafia (sp?)! It really was a lot of fun!
