A dream is a wish your heart makes

I just got home from teaching piano lessons. Brooklyn was already in bed, though not asleep. When she heard me she started calling my name, so finally I went in to tuck her in. As soon as I opened the door, she was all business. She had an agenda planned out. She pointed to the rocking chair and asked, "Rock rock?" So I picked her up and settled in the rocking chair. After we sat down, she put her face right in front of mine and demanded, "blublublublbu." (Imagine her "talking" by blubbering her tongue between her lips - you know the sound I am going for.) She's trying to say "Cinderella," meaning she wants me to sing a song from Cinderella (part of our bedtime ritual). Well it was just such a funny sight I burst out laughing. Confused at why I was laughing instead of singing, she pushed her face even closer to mine and insisted more urgently, "blublublublub! BLUBLUBLUB!" and I laughed even harder. Finally I got enough control to start singing, and she immediately joined in, occasionally even coming near to the right pitch at times. Of course it was complete nonsense, but still she sang her little heart out. I sat and thought about how much I wish I could be the one to put her to bed every night, instead of weekends and the occasional weekday. (Travis explained that she had asked him to sing Cinderella, but he didn't know the song, so she stayed awake until I came home.)

Then I rocked her to sleep.

Or so I thought, until she lifted her head, pointed to her crib, and said, "Bed."

I sure love that sassy little girl.

I love these kinds of stories. I wish blogs were invented back in our parents' day so we could read cute stuff like this about ourselves. Brooklyn is going to love reading this later in life!! She's a CUTIE!!

That is the cutest little story. Your picture looks like it should be in a magazine.

SO cute! I love that picture - she looks so down to business. I love it when kids try to tell you something and they get so serious. I can just imagine her demanding something from you in jibberish. BTW seems like I haven't seen you in a while??

She has grown so much. It is so fun to realize how important these little things are to your children. I am sure she loves having that special time with you. Cinderella huh? Lydia and I do Disney Princesses some nights:)

Sounds like she has a lot of time on her hands to plan these sorts of things. She will probably be highly organized when she grows up!
