We went in at 7 a.m., and I blame the early hour (and drowsy kids) for my absent-mindedness. First I had to race home to get the paperwork I'd forgotten, and then once we were prepping her for surgery, I couldn't find my camera! I wanted a picture of her in that cute little tiny orange surgical gown SOOOOO bad! I moped about it the whole time, and when we came home I discovered the camera was in my diaper bag all along. GAH!!!
Anyway. Brooklyn was such a trooper the whole time. She went in happy and cooperative and came out, well, a little bit the opposite, but she's already turning back into her old self. I have to admit it was a lot harder than I expected, although they told me quite clearly all along what to expect. It was hard for Travis & I to watch her cry as they put the mask on her and then drift off to sleep, and then leave her! Also I didn't know about the IV. Or the blood! They told me all of this right before, of course, but it was still sad to see her crying red tears afterward! As she was waking up they brought us in to hold her and help her re-orient herself. She eventually just went back to sleep! After we took her home (we only spent about 1 1/2 hrs. there total) she was tired but quickly was up and about again (though clearly much less coordinated).
Here's the brave patient, holding the Get-Well card Kate made for her with Shauna's help! (Thanks, Shauna, for taking Kate!)

Awww poor baby! It is hard to see them in the hospital! I'm glad it went well and hopefully the surgery takes and you don't have to do tubes!
I second the awwwwww.
I'm sorry she (& you) had to go through that, but hope everything will be better now!
Mason had the same surgery done when he was a year old. And our pediatrician told us it would clear up by 1 year, but it didn't. He had the tube put in his eye, and it was taken out 3 weeks later, and his eye has been great! My dad told me that he also likes to do the surgery at 6 months, but I had a strange pediatrician in Logan. All is well now. Lily may also have the same surgery. And my sisters and I had to have the probe done at 6 months. So I totally understand what you've gone through. I think her eye will clear up.
I SO hope this surgery fixes the problem. That's gotta be the hardest thing to see your 14 month old scared and/or in pain! Way to go Brooklyn with being so brave! And how frustrating about the camera thing. I totally know the feeling of wishing you had your camera. And then to find out you DID have it all along! AHHHHHHH!! I think any mom would be mad about it! I just imagined her in the cute little surgical gown! :)
Oh, and I gotta congratulate YOU Krista for blogging an event the DAY it happened! :) Way to GO!! I know you're always complaining about being behind on your blogging. I bet it felt good!
she is too adorable! glad it went well.
