Brooklyn had her 1 year check-up and I should write her stats here because otherwise I will forget. She weighed in at 18 1/2 lbs., 29 1/2 inches, and um a normal-sized head. Her doctor wants me to start giving her Pedia-sure to help with her weight gain (or lack thereof). Sheesh those skinny genes (get it? Sorry, I'm tired) didn't come from me!
This morning Brooklyn had her appointment with her new pediatric ophthalmologist, and we'll be scheduling surgery for her within the next few weeks. I hate to do that to her, but also I can't wait until her poor little eye is back to normal! Finally she won't be permanently crying! People won't constantly ask her why she's so sad!
Speaking of Brooklyn, she's definitely hit the independent phase full-force. She has her own little ideas and she is definitely NOT a pushover! Kate plays really rough with her sometimes, but instead of getting upset she dishes it right back out! I'm relieved not to feel like I have to constantly defend my little infant anymore. Anyway, talk is cheap. Here's a video of her walking, assisted, of course, by her "puppy" - a kind of scary-looking thing that she can push around and it makes barking noises.
DISCLAIMER: At the end of this video you may happen to see a stack of diapers on the ottoman. I just want to stress that those are NOT used diapers; they are clean! Kate likes to "change" her babies' diapers and then wraps them up like dirty ones. It drives me NUTS because (1) the obvious clutter of DIAPERS littering my home, and (2) I have to CHECK to know which are clean and which are dirty! (Sometimes she changes her own diapers and wraps up the dirty ones the same way, so it's hard to tell.) Anyway. Just so you know, I don't have trash scattered about my house. Usually.
AND speaking of the puppy, that's one of Brooklyn's new words. The only three she uses functionally are "Hi," "Bye," and "Mommy." But when prompted she can also say "puppy" and "baby". RARELY she will start to sound out "Daddy" but not often. Weird huh? That was of course Kate's first word. Guess we know who the favorite is! Just kidding babe. :)
Yesterday we went for a walk even though it was much cooler and WINDIER than we'd expected! Check out those ominous clouds rolling in! YIKES!
And I just thought this was funny:
8 sweet nothings:
Love the clouds picture! The storms the last few days have been SO COOL LOOKING!
Sorry again about poor Brooklyns EYE!!! AH! Im glad theyre going to fix her up! See you girls TOMORROW!!!!! WOOT WOOT!
I'm curious what surgery she's having on her eye. K may eventually need one.
it's so fun to catch up and see how quickly the girls are growing. I love B's face-on-the-floor fits. those sound (and look) great!
So my boys just had their year old visit too. They both weighed around what Brooklyn weighs, and my doctor said I have 2 skinny boys and left it at that. It's so weird to hear what other doctors say and what they want you to do. What did she weigh at her last visit?
Looks like you guys are having a good time. And these storms have been crazy!
Whoa! That is a cool walking toy...I'm thinking I should look for one for Mason. Btw, Mason's one year check up was yesterday and they are the same height. Mason has got a good pound more to carry about too. He's a skinny little guy though.
That is great news that they can get Brooklyn in so quick. I saw the pictures of the girls and they turned out so pretty. I was so excited to see what Melissa would come up with, and she did not disappoint.
I think it's funny watching Kate hover nearby in the video. And it's really cute that Kate pushes her baby doll in a stroller and changes her diapers.
Great pics! I love your phone ;) it's awesome. I let Tyler change Clyde (his duck) but there are only two diapers he can use, so as to limit how many get crumpled up. I know how you feel.
Loved the video of Brooklyn walking. She's getting so fast! She's going to be walking unassisted in no time!! That cracks me up about the diapers on the ottoman. Madi's also into changing her baby's diaper, but she hasn't started wrapping them up like dirty ones yet! I was totally busting up laughing when I read that! I'm totally like you in that it would drive me crazy about diapers cluttering the house and not knowing which ones are clean or dirty. I could just picture you going around sniffing diapers!!!! :) AWESOME!
