A spoonful of sugar for thought...

In case I don't get a chance to post anything before we leave tomorrow (I know, it's been a long time) I wanted to leave a little note. Hopefully we will remember what's REALLY important this Christmas season. I am blown away at how fast kids grow up - I look at Kate and am shocked to think how far she's come in only two years. It scares me a little and leaves me grasping at the short time we have. Mary Poppins was on tonight, and the sardonic little speech (partly sung of course) Bert gives to the father at the end was very poignant: (he's singing a reprise of the "Spoonful of Sugar" song)

You've got to grind, grind, grind
At that grindstone
Though child'ood slips like sand through a sieve
And all too soon they've up grown
And then they've flown
And it's too late for you to give
(Just that spoonful of sugar...)

Hug your little ones and give them an extra kiss! (And if you don't have any, go find someone else's kids to kiss. Mine will be in Utah tomorrow!)

So true!! i spent last night watching old videos of Madi. While they were cute to watch, it made me sad to realize how fast she's grown up! It does happen all too fast!! Anyway, have such a FUN time in Utah!!! Go to Cafe Rio for us!!! Oh, and thanks for the yummy treats you sent over last night. I'm guessing those were the famous Oreo Balls!!! Heavenly Heavenly!!! Oh, and thanks for letting us watch your fish while your gone!!! Madi LOVES them already!! We'll take extra good care of them!! Have a good flight this afternoon! May you have 2 happy girls!! :)

I agree...

I've been thinking a lot about this. My oldes will be eight in a few weeks. EIGHT!! That means in only five short years he'll be a teenager and won't even like me anymore!

I guess if I make these next five years the awesomest five years of his life he'll still like me when he is a teenager! I'd better get off the computer and play with my kiddos!

Merry Christmas! Have a good time in Utah!

Hey Travis, good to see you and your family. It looks like you are a busy guy. I found your profile on sfhs website. If you are ever in San Diego, you have a place to stay. Talk to ya later.
