...when dead leaves fly
Like witches on switches
Across the sky
When elf and sprite
Flit through the night
On a moony sheen
It's HALLOWEEN!
Like witches on switches
Across the sky
When elf and sprite
Flit through the night
On a moony sheen
It's HALLOWEEN!
(okay LAST night was the night...)
My sleuth mother uncovered the full version of that poem here. It's an old family tradition.
And above you see a SPOOKY picture of my little Halloween ghost girl.
I have to admit I have no idea how this picture happened. I was playing with my camera trying to figure out how to use it (no it is not new. It is old. And since owning it I have only learned how to [a] turn it on, and [b] snap a picture) and this mysterious photo showed up in my collection. Right before Halloween. (*Twilight Zone music plays*) Mostly it's odd because her shirt is actually bright pink, and she is holding Brooklyn's pacifier, which is blue. Oh yeah and there's a hole in her head. Maybe those of you out there who are photographically inclined can figure out what exactly I did here.
I showed Kate this picture and she started to cry.
ANYWAY...
This is the part where I post the obligatory pictures of trick-or-treating, silly costumes, our awesome Halloween party, and whatnot. A big thanks to Melissa and Anie for taking most of these pictures while I struggled alongside them with my painfully obvious photographic handicap.
Lexi was kind enough to let Madi & Kate share her wagon when we went out TRICK-OR TREATING!
We went as Goldilocks & the three bears... Originally the plan was for Travis to be our Goldilocks, but he chickened out last-minute, so we were all bears and made Kate wear the blond wig, which she did like a champ.
Right- Our Halloween party crowd: {back row} (you can figure this out) a law student, a cinder girl, a little witch, a med student, Hannah Montana, and Earl; {front row} Papa Bear, Mama Bear, a ballerina, Goldilocks, and Baby Bear was snug asleep in bed. Also the witch's black cat (Melissa) was taking the picture.
I forgot to take pictures of the actual party until the aftermath, which was neither pretty nor intelligible as a party, so you can just use your imagination. Suffice it to say it was fabulous.
Oh yeah, and apparently on Halloween....
Things get a little crazy after midnight
11 sweet nothings:
What fun!! I do like your idea of Goldilocks and the 3 bears. Kate makes an adorable blond. That green ghost picture is pretty spooky!
That picture of kate in the wig rocks! This is actually my second time reading this post. The first time we were listening to the BYU game too and things were getting pretty intense so I stopped reading and now that we've WON I came back to finish what I started! I'm still trying to figure out my camera too. I need Melissa or Laura to give me lessons. Happy Halloween!!
I would have LOVED to have seen that wig on Travis! :) The wig seriously made the costume!! I love the themes you always come up with! If I was only a little more creative. . . Anyway, thanks again for a great night! You guys really know how to throw an awesome party! Sorry for the abrupt exit last night. After we got home I realized we kinda left in a hurry. I really did have a GREAT time and was enjoying my first time EVER playing Clue!! I just felt bad that Madi was screaming and was afraid she'd wake up one of the girls. Please forgive us- well, more like ME, for being rude!!! :)
Um I say hanna montana looks HOT in a stache! OOOH BABY! and what ever! Your party was the CUTEST THING EVER! I was kicking my self for not taking MORE pictures of the decor! (something about a screaming unhappy baby on my lap helped that out!) Thanks so much for Hosting! I suppose next year its my turn! I may have to rent a place for the party though... with everyone multiplying havin' kids and what not! Oh and cool new brewers moving in to the ward and stuff too!!! IT WAS FABULOUS! You need to learn to give your self a LOT more credit. Why do we keep having this discussion???
How much fun!! I love that you guys were Goldilocks and the Three Bears! That's such a great idea. I wanted to do some sort of a theme this year, but couldn't come up with any ideas, so that will have to wait until next year.
And that picture of the "ghostly" Kate - so WEIRD!!!! Also, I agree with Melissa - you deserve a lot more credit than you give yourself!
I think it's so funny that Kate cried when you showed her that picture. Ha ha ha!
LUV the picture of Kate. How on earth did you do that??
I love your pictures what kind of camara is that!!! I also love the 3 bears idea
Uhh... no idea on the picture OR the camera. It appears to be a Fujifilm E550... which was an inexpensive older model camera that we bought hastily when our old one broke, planning to shop for a "real" new camera later. But we never did. Also this is Krista and not Travis.
it looks like you had such a blast on halloween! your family is so cute! also, i love how you have your blog layed out. i can't ever figure out how to set mine up as cute as yours!
Thanks for sharing! Looks like a wonderful party - fun times! It's great that Krista bear and the #2 Cub went as themselves. Yep, just for that theme, Trav should've been Goldilocks!
