And now...

[Origin]: I was thinking about Thanksgiving, because (a) Halloween is nearly over, (b) I will naturally cancel my Thursday piano lessons on Thanksgiving, for which I am very excited (I have 5 lessons on Thursdays and they are killers), and (c) Thanksgiving always falls on a Thursday. Coincidence? I think not. So once a year we choose a Thursday to express thanks. I decided that once a year was too seldom, and we should take time to express thanks at least once a week for some of the many things I am thankful for, and what better day than Thursday? Plus then we've got some great alliteration going on.

A few years ago I started this little "thankful" notebook, in which I was supposed to write a few things for which I am thankful every day. (Never mind that I have since only filled a couple pages in it. It was kind of a short-lived trend for me.)
Here is an excerpt:

And so, in honor of this first Thursday Thanks, here is just a tidbit of what I am thankful for. Starting with this:
That's right - it's a space heater. Given to me by my friend Melissa who is not only dripping in talent that she lavishes on me undeservingly, like making me & my girls cute necklaces and creative crafty mommy stuff and of course taking amazing pictures like THESE...
...but also she knows how cold I get in winter and kindly bestowed upon me her spare space heater. Which I love. And I love her too.

So today I am thankful for FRIENDS.

And also for space heaters.

{Now, what are YOU thankful for on this fine Thursday?}

I am thankful for Melissa and all of Krista's FRIENDS! It's nice to know others love my daughter and take care of her. Thank you all.

I am thankful for SO MANY things, that I can hardly choose one, but I'll say my telephone so I can talk with my children who are so far away! Mostly I'm thankful for my children.

Happy Halloween everyone!

I am also grateful for space heaters. Our furnace broke last winter & so what did Austin do? Fix/have it fixed? Of course not! He went to Wal-Mart & bought 2 more space heaters (we already had one) since they were 50% off & believe it or not... they heated up our entire house the rest of the winter & saved us $100 a month on our gas bill. Our furnace is still broken & we'll probably end up using those space heaters again. I don't know whether he's smart or just the cheapest person alive. Probably both. *Sigh*

Aww Krista your so sweet! Seriously ive had a lot on my plate the last few days and I really appreciate all the nice things you said! It really made my day! Although, it was more helpful to me than it was for you to LET me take pictures of you! And you did ME a favor by taking that space heater off my hands so i had more room to stash our other junk in places! YEY! So am i going to look totally stupid going to the store dressed like a black cat? Cuz... im already in costume. OooOPS!

I'm thankful for new friends willing to befriend the new couple in the ward and even invite them to their Freaky Friday Halloween Extravaganza 2008.

OK, I'm going to copy you too. I talked to my YW yesterday about gratitude, and challenged them to write down one thing they're grateful for every day this month, then we'll talk about it at the beginning of December. I'm not very good at blogging consistently, but I can do every Thursday in November :o) Thanks for the great idea!!!
