The Big Day

As I am typing this, Travis is defending his grant proposal, which he spent the summer writing, in front of a committee, as the last step in his qualifying exam! (It's a lot of technical stuff, but basically, he will be officially considered a "P.h.D. candidate" - this is the equivalent to him receiving his Master's.) After this (assuming he passes with flying colors. Which of course he will.) it is nothing but lab work until graduation! No more classes, no more tests, no more stressing about deadlines! Are you catching how excited I am for today to be over??? All I have heard for the past, oh, 6 months, is "after quals are over."
"Travis, can we go out to dinner?"
"After quals are over."
"It's 1 a.m... shouldn't you be going to bed?"
"After quals are over."
"Can you reach that box on the top shelf for me?"
"After quals are over."
And now... my little jailbird is FREEEEEE!!!! And just in time for Labor Day weekend! WOO-HOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone wanna go camping????

Yay for getting your husband back! All the work that Tyson has done while being a Phd student has been so much easier than any of his undergrad stuff. No classes just research, oh... plus that pesky dissertation...
