So I am going to relate the birthing story from the beginning. I'll do my best to keep you entertained. We were originally scheduled for 6 am at Montgomery General Hospital but the nurse called the day before and pushed us back to 8 am. "Don't be late!" she warned. Well we thought we left with plenty of time but after dropping Kate off with the Gertsches and missing a couple turns we arrived 15 minutes late. We blame it on the schedulers though since we wanted to deliver at Shady Grove, only a block away.
Once we arrived it was time to get Krista ready for delivery starting with the I.V. She was a little scared to get an I.V. so being the brave husband that I am I stood at her bed side and held her hand. About a minute later I found myself on one knee with my head down toward the ground. The nurse quickly hit the emergency button and summoned a few other concerned nurses. They encouraged me to sit up in one of the large chairs in the room and drink a cup of OJ. I wanted to stay where I was but did as they ordered. Shortly after sitting up on the chair I felt the blood drain from my head as the room began to spin. I told everyone I was going to pass out, laid my head back, and slipped into an unknown world. The next thing I remember was a strong whiff of ammonium inhalant as a jolted awake from unconsciousness. I was the talk of the 3rd floor. Everyone had to make their little joke about it. Even the anesthetist came in and before saying anything else said, "I understand you like needles and you want to try putting the epideral in." Wauka, Wauka, Wauka, everyone's a comedian. Well at least I added to the excitement.
After they took care of me they gave Krista a low low infusion of pitocin because she was already 5 cm when we came in. Then it was just a waiting game. Krista probably would have gone earlier but Dr. Behram had a C-section to do so they turned the pitocin off while he was in the O.R.
Just a couple hours later they told Krista that Dr. Behram was done and he would be in shortly to deliver the baby. She asked me to grab her make-up bag so she could touch up a little. I said "Krista, you're kidding, you're about to have a baby!" She said, "I know but I don't want to look bad for the pictures because everyone is going to look at them and last time I looked disgusting" She began to primp up with some blush or base or whatever that face powder is. The doctor came in and saw her putting on her make up and said, "Oh you've got to take a picture of this" That is when my mom and I whipped out our cameras. Then she put on lip stick, mascara (I think) and even used the eye lash curler. I thought that was a bit much but whatever, she is the one doing all the work, she can do what she wants.

Brooklyn Kelly Lundell was born on April 10th at 4:18 pm. All it took was three big pushes and Brooklyn came right out. We were both surprised how easy it was compared to last time. Krista didn't even need stitches so her recovery has been relatively easy.
She weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. She came out so fast that she swallowed a lot of fluid and had some bruising on her face. We are a couple of proud parents and were very excited to share the news with everyone.
I will post the video of Kate interacting with Brooklyn she did very well and loves having a baby sister.

CONGRATS! Mom and baby are both lookin' good! I love that one of the first pictures is Krista doing her make-up. The hospital scene always attracts tons of pictures and poor moms have just been through labor and well... don't always look so good. My first picture with Maddie was at 3 a.m. with big mascara racoon eyes. :)

Glad she made it here safely! Happy recovery, Krista!

i am similarly amazed at how you look like you just went casually shopping for a baby...at a mall...in a southern california...where everyone looks really cute. i can't wait to see little brooklyn (um, middle name? i'm on the edge of my seat here!) once we can start comparing her to everyone else in your family!

Congratulations, you guys. I can't wait for a post with some details - size of the kid, how long and horrible the labor was, you know, the whole story!

Thanks to everyone! I was feeling left out so I thought I'd come on my own blog to check out the pictures I haven't seen yet. Wow she's a chubby little thing! Oh yeah and middle name: Kelly (after my mom)

Only now do I see how ridiculous the pictures are... Okay here comes the defense about the makeup. We were really sitting around for quite a while, and I had just been sick (sorry, tmi) so my eyes were streaming and I was pale with makeup smeared across my face. So as we're waiting I asked Trav to throw me my makeup bag (why not?) - especially remembering pictures from Kate's birth where I look horrid and the moment is immortalized forever (I know it's vain but really it just kinda rubs me the wrong way to remember myself that way!) So that's the story - it was no big deal; just that the dr. chose that moment to come in and deliver me and I'm like, "Oh hang on my face is only half done!" Plus I was delirious from waking up early. Now of course I realize it looks dumb for me to be sitting in the delivery room, holding a beautiful if not splotchy newborn, with a frantically overdone makeup job that makes me look like, well I won't say. ANYWAY it was an awesome day and I just love love LOVE my two little girls!!!

So I totally got up early the morning that I was scheduled for my c-section with Xander and did my hair and makeup. I hate my pictures after having Trenton and Jacob. I am so with ya.

BTW, nice story Travis. I thought that Trav was funny when he got pale during my first c-section and ofcourse I will forever remember the look on his face when he saw the needle for the epidural. Too funny!!!

Awww...cute pictures and great story! I'm glad to hear that you are doing so well and that it was a good birth experience. I've been thinking about how happy you look in these pictures the last couple of days and trying to remind myself how happy I was after Vanessa was born...I'm a little freaked out at labor again! But you just look so happy and she looks so cute! Hopefully we'll see each other soon with all of our babies. :)

I've always heard stories about husband fainting...now I know of one!! So funny...I mean not really, but it makes for a GREAT birthing story later on!! I love it. I want to her the birthing story from your perspective, Krista. I love the make-up and I cannot believe you were 5 cm's when you went in...holy cow!! You had to be induced?? She was determined to stay in. I looked bad for both my delieveries, my water broke early and I was not ready either time!! This time I vow to look better.

Now, Trav, remind me again, you ARE an EMT right? You did take all the anatomy classes and everything, and you didn't pass out when Kate was born, right? Just checking. That made me laugh really hard. Thanks for sharing.

And Krista, my gorgeous sister, I hope I look as hot as you do when I have my baby. Doubtful, but one can always dream, right? I love you both and am so sad that I won't get to see my new niece until Christmas! I wish you could come out here this summer. Next year maybe.

Congrats again on the new baby girl. Needles and passing out reminds me of stories that you use to tell me about your experiences in Panama. Watch out for those needles.
